special meeting held June 16, 1966 were read approved and adopted.
The Financial and Water Report for June, 1966 was read and approved.
All expenditures included in this report were approved.
The following bids were received for the extension of the water
mains at the north end of Town:

Cleary Bros. 10,300.00
It was moved and seconded that Harvel & DeLand be awarded a
contract to do said work subject to review of both bids by Brockway,
Owen and Anderson and contract approved by Mr. Lilienthal.
Motion passed.
The Police reports for June 1966 were read.
Building reports for June totaled :650,800.00 of which 640,000.00
was for construction of the 24 unit Somerset Apartments.
Chief Roy Cowart asked the Commission to review a model traffic
code ordinance and model traffic ticket as prepared by the State
of Florida. The Commission instructed Mr. Lilienthal to review
them and to make recommendations at the next meeting.
Mayor Iglehart stated that he had discussed with Mr. Reed the
possibility of the Town hireing a night watchman to be stationed
in the Place au Soleil subdivision during the night. This man
would be responsible for surveillance only, no traffic enforce-
ment. This would relieve the regular police force from having
to make periodic trips over to the subdivision and would give
better protection for both side of the Intra - coastal. After a
general discussion of this matter the Commission instructed the
Town Clerk and Police Chief to work up cost figures for this
undertaking and report back at the next meeting.
A copy of a letter from Dan Neff of Russell and Axon to Mr.
Pierce Brawner, Mayor of Ocean Ridge, was read to the Commission.
This letter stated that Gulf Stream, Briny Breezes and Ocean
Ridge had entered into contracts with Russell and Axon to
develope the most feasible and enonomical plan for sewage

disposal. The Commissioners all stated that no contract had been
signed by Gulf Stream. Mr. Lilienthal verified the fact that
the Town was under no contract with Russell & Axon.
A letter from Mr. Phil Moreno, owner of the County Sanitation
Company was read to the Commission. This letter announced
his intention of exercising his option to renew the garbage
collection contract with the Town. This contract expires
December 31, 1966. Mr. Moreno stated that Palm Beach County
has raised its rate for disposal at the County dump by 66 273%
and in addition there have been over 100 new housekeeping units
have been built in the Town since the last increase to him.
Mr. Moreno proposed to raise the monthly rate for garbage
collection from 450.00 a month to 650.00 a month starting
January 1, 1967. There was a general discussion of this matter.
.The Commission decided that since there was no urgency in this
matter that it be tabled until the Town Clerk could work up
some cost figures if the Town should want to take over this
function.
There being no further business to come before the Commission
the meeting was adjourned.
