Re: GS #2627 (Chapter 119 - records regarding parade permits, etc.)
Please provide all public records in connection with, relating to parade or similar permits or
approvals from the Town of Gulfstream for, what some might refer to as, a parade, a
demonstration or a protest, which are in effect as of the date of this request. In that connection.
Additionally, please provide all public records which contain the word "parade", "demonstration"
or "protest". This request is for the period of time beginning on the first day of January in the year
of 2018 through the date of this request.
Dear Martin E. O’Boyle [e-mail to: meo@commerce-group.com]:
The Town of Gulf Stream has received your public records request dated February 15, 2018. The
original public records request can be found at the following link:
http://www2.gulf-stream.org/weblink/0/doc/116955/Page1.aspx
The Town interprets the first part of your request, “all public records in connection with, relating
to parade or similar permits or approvals” to be a request for the Town Ordinance regulating
parades in effect on February 15, 2018. Pursuant to the public records laws, the duty of the
Town of Gulf Stream is to provide access to, or copies of, public records at a reasonable time in
reasonable conditions but only after receiving required payments. The Town of Gulf Stream is
not required to give out information from these records nor give legal advice about these records.
However, as a courtesy, please be advised that the Town Code does not contain the word
“parade” or “protest,” and the Town does not have a current ordinance related directly to parade
or protest permits. Based on this information, there is no such record responsive to this part of
your request.
The second part of your request seeks “all public records which contain the word ‘parade,’
‘demonstration,’ or ‘protest,’” from January 1, 2018 through February 15, 2018. The Town
would like to request clarification on the records you seek before determining whether to provide
you with an estimate for the extensive use of information technology resources or extensive
clerical or supervisory assistance as described in Fla. Stat. § 119.07(4)(d).
We do not understand your request to seek any particular records as you have failed to
sufficiently identify the records that you seek with sufficient particularity to enable the Town to
provide a good faith response. The Town requests you clarify the records you are seeking and
we will endeavor to respond appropriately.
If the Town does not receive clarification from you within 30 days of this letter, we will consider
this request closed.
Sincerely,
Reneé Rowan Basel

Reneé-I make reference to the attached.
In your letter, you asked for a quote clarification". Quite frankly, I do not know how I can make my request any clear.
With that in mind, can you tell me where you find my request to be "not clear" or ambiguous. Once I understand your
wishes, I will do my best to fulfill them.
I now late your prompt response.
Thank you! :-)
