Richard Hanna, James Ritterbush, Ralph Bird, Harry Johnston Jr,
Henry Pope, Ernestine Pope, Elza Oliver, and M.P. Dickenson.
Mayor Iglehart called the meeting to order.
Mayor Iglehart read his letter of resignation as Mayor of the
Town of Gulf Stream. Mayor Iglehart stated that he did not
have the ti to devote to the job to do a good job and that
rgther than�iunsatisfactory job as Mayor he thought it better to
resign. The Commission thanked Mr. Iglehart for his fine
efforts and reluctantly accepted his resignation. Mr. Hart
moved that Mr. Koch be appointed Mayor. Mr. Hoyle seconded
the motion. Motion passed unanimously. Mr. Hoyle moved that
Mr. Iglehart be appointed Vice Mayor. Motion was seconded
and passed unanimously.
The minutes of the meeting held October 21, 1966 were read
approved and adopted.
The financial and water report for October 1966 was read and
approved. All expenditures included in this report were approved.
The Police reports for October 1966 were read.
Letters from Boynton Beach and Ocean Ridge were read. Boynton
Beach stated that they were available to discuss fire protection
with the Town at any time. Ocean Ridge outlined progress to
date in setting up a fire department and offered the Town
several methods of joining this department. No firm price
was included in their letter. Mr. Koch was appointed to discuss
fire protection with both communities and to try and get from
each city a firm fixed price for a definite time period.
Representatives of the Somerset Apts. appeared before the Commission
to request a variance in the setback requirements to allow them
to install a package sewage treatment plant in the setback area.
During the following discussion it was pointed out that the Town
had no jurisdiction in the matter except as to the location of
the plant in the set back area. A letter from Mr. Frank DeRice
was read requesting that the Town not allow the plant in the
setback area. After a general discussion Mr. Hart moved that
the Town Commission indicate they would disapprove any formal
application for a variance that might be submitted for location
of this treatment plant. Mr. LaPorte seconded the Motion.

Mr. Henry Pope suggested that the Town make arrangements to sell
! cigarettasto the residents of the Town in order that the Town
could receiv. the cigarette tax on all cigarettes sold by the
Town. The Tax is 8¢ a ack and Mr. Pope estimated that his
family alone pays over 400.00 a year in cigarette taxes and profit
on sale of cigarettes.t The Town Attorney stated that the
Town could not enter into a retail cigarette business.
A request from C. P. Young that accupational license fees be
lowered for certain people doing yard work in the Town. The
Commission however felt that the fees should remain as is.
Mayor Koch reported that Delray Beach is presently re- writing certain
parts of the proposed sewer contract to elimin to the objections
regarding immediate hook up etc. Mayor koch said be would report
back to the Commission after further discussions with Delray Beach.
Mr. Iglehart stated that after all the agreements have been finalized
this whole matter should be presented to the residents and that
they should be given an opportunity to express themselves to the
Commission.
It was reported that Mr. Pope, Mr. Gwynn and Mr. Anderson had met
recently to review the proposed subdivision ordinance and that
Mr. Anderson would meet with the Commission to finalize this
ordinance.
Pay raised were approved by the Commission for the following men
effective November 1, 1966:
Roy Cowart, Melton Partin, James Brown
C_ Harold Corbett and Stafford Rafuse - $15.00 month increase
Paul Bradwell - $10.00 month increase.
There being no further business to
the meeting was adjourned.
