CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA
ORDINANCE NO. 7-2016
AN APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE
SUBMITTAL, ACCEPTANCE, AND APPROPRIATION OF A GRANT
FROM THE FEDERAL DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY
WHEREAS, In accordance with Indiana Code (IC) 36-1-4-10, a municipality may
execute any documents necessary to receive money from the state or
federal government or any other source, and said documents are prepared
and executed by the City executive administration, provided that the
Common Council of the City of Richmond as the legislative body of the
City approves an ordinance for the appropriation of any monies received
in accordance with IC 36-4-6-18; and
WHEREAS, The Department of Homeland Security has grant funding available
through its Fire Prevention and Safety Grant Program; and
WHEREAS, The City of Richmond Fire Department desires to submit a grant
application to obtain funds that will be used for training in connection
with fire prevention and investigation; and
WHEREAS, A five percent (5%) local match is required.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of
Richmond, Indiana, as follows:
1. The City of Richmond in accordance with IC 36-1-4-10 has submitted or will
submit a grant application to the Federal Department of Homeland Security for the Fire
Prevention and Safety Grant Program.
2. The City of Richmond Fire Department is authorized to accept said grant funding
in an amount up to Two Hundred Forty Thousand Fifty-one Dollars and Zero Cents
($240,051.00).
3. The local match of Twelve Thousand Six Hundred Thirty-four Dollars and
Zero Cents ($12,634.00) will be supplied by the Fire Department from its General Fund
account or its First Response Fund account.
4. Said grant funding shall be used for training in connection with fire prevention and
investigation for the Richmond Fire Department.

of the City of Richmond, Indiana.
