Council President Whereas: "Earth Hour," is an annual event where people around the world agree to turn

District Councilor Whereas: the Town Council of the city known as the Town of Watertown is committed

Whereas: Watertown further demonstrated its commitment to work for climate change

Now therefore be it resolved that the Town Council of the city known as the Town of
Watertown instructs the Town Manager to turn off all lights in municipal buildings
between 8:30 and 9:30 PM on Saturday,March 26, excepting those that are essential to
maintaining public safety, and
Be it further resolved that the Town Council of the city known as the Town of
Watertown, Massachusetts urges all of its citizens to turn off all household lights between
8:30 and 9:30 pm on Saturday, March 26 to demonstrate that by working together, each
of us can contribute to halting global climate change,thereby helping to protect our future
and that of future generations.

John A.Donohue WHEREAS: The students and Fine,Applied and Performing Arts Department faculty of
Councilor At Large the Watertown Public Schools have shown great dedication and enthusiasm in creating,
Susan G.Falkoff understanding and appreciating the fine and performing arts; and,
Councilor At Large
Anthony Palomba WHEREAS: The fine and performing arts are basic to a core curriculum for our youth
Councilor At Large and therefore, are of great importance to the comprehensive education of Watertown
Angeline B.Kounelis students; and,
District A Councilor
Cecilia Lank WHEREAS: The Town of Watertown wishes to recognize and show its support for the
District B Councilor fine and performing arts in education and the achievements of our school children in the
Vincent J.Piccirilll,Jr. arts.
District C Councilor
John J.Lawn,Jr. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Town Council of the City known
District D Councilor
as the Town of Watertown, along with the State and National Art Education Association,
the State and National Music Education Association and the Watertown Public Schools,
proclaim March, 2011 as
ARTS IN OUR SCHOOLS MONTH
and urge all students,parents and citizens to participate in the activities honoring the fine
and performing arts in our schools.
