A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
AUTHORIZING CITY STAFF TO WORK ON THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH PROJECT IN SUPPORT OF DEVELOPING
NEW CITY BICYCLE AND PEDESTRIAN MASTER PLANS
WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood has been awarded a grant from the Los
Angeles County Department of Public Health through the American Recovery and
Reinvestment Act of 2009 — Renewing Environments for Nutrition, Exercise and
Wellness ( "RENEW ") initiative for the development of Bicycle and Pedestrian Master
Plans, and
WHEREAS, the Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plans will encourage physical
activity and will help decrease childhood and adult obesity
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES
HEREBY FIND, PROCLAIM, ORDER, AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council endorses the RENEW initiative
Section 2. The City agrees to provide a staff member and $30,000 in Prop C
funds to accomplish the task of completing the Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plans.
Section 3. The City agrees to establish a technical advisory committee with
the DHS and members of City departments involved in the Lynwood Bicycle and
Pedestrian Master Plans.
Section 4. That this Resolution becomes effective immediately
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 16 day of August, 2011.
