Select Board approval of the 2022 Commercial Razor Clam Regulations is still pending at this time. The Select Board will
vote on the 2022 regulations on Monday April 4, 2022.
As of the draft regulations, the pilot is limited to fifteen (15) adult commercial harvesters, plus for (4) junior commercial
harvesters. Each harvester may also have apprentice harvesters participate, with a maximum of two apprentice
harvesters under the age of 16 per commercial harvester. The ten active adult participants and one active student
participants from last year, due to their participation and cooperation, will be automatically included unless they decline
to continue.
Renewal applications will be available April 1 through April 15 via e-mail or at the Department of Natural Resource Office
(1657 Main Street).
New harvester applications will be available on April 1 through April 28 via e-mail or at the Department of Natural
Resource Office (1657 Main Street).
You must meet the residency requirements (See Commercial Razor Clam Regulations) to apply. All applicants must
submit residency requirements.
If more applications are received for the general and or student endorsements than are available, we will hold a
computer generated randomly selection lottery on April 29, 2022 to fill the available spots. The Town will notify
applicants via phone and email on April 29 2022.
Once selected, you will need to obtain a state commercial fishing permit that has been endorsed for shellfish. You may
then purchase a Brewster commercial shellfish permit and a razor clam endorsement from the Natural Resource
Department starting April 5 for renewals or May 1 for new harvesters.
The Razor Clam harvest regulations have specific requirements of harvest, notice and reporting that must also be
followed.
