July 10. 2019 a 6:30 in the Skaket Room ORLEANS TOWN CLERK
Present for the Committee-Anne Sigsbee, Sharron Basso, Kyle Wibby, Tracy Murphy,
Morgan Stewart
Present from the Recreation Department-Alan Harrison and Tom Daley
Call to Order- Committee call to order Anne Sigsbee followed by committee agreement, as no
appointments were yet made.
Committee Organization- Election of committee members after a short description of roles
and ways to organize committee jobs was discussed.
Ann Sigsbee was voted to Chair - Vote 5-0-0
Tracy Murphy was voted to Vice- Chair- Vote 5-0-0
Morgan Stewart was voted to Clerk- Vote 5-0-0
Discussion of regular meeting times and proposal of every second Thursday at 7 p.m. was
agreed upon. The next meeting will be August 8, 2019 at 7p.m.
Setting Short Term and Long Term Goals Discussion-
Committee and staff members discussed the vision for advisory committee:
Common themes discussed in the short term
Implementing programing in creative ways using gyms and fields on weekends and school vacations
Creating multi generational community building experiences
Diverse programming for youth, may be multi-age
Supporting families during the 2 pm-3 pm time slot after school
Financial aid considerations
Providing budget suggestions to selectman above the town suggested 2 percent reflecting needs of
department
Common themes discussed for long term
Sourcing space for a Community Building and other town land that may be available for recreation
Surveying town to allow for input of"wants and needs"while also creating a budget reflecting findings
Creating a recreation program that all generations can feel proud of and attract new families to town
Maximize resources and work collaboratively with town and other town organizations already in place
Identifying opportunities to utilize CPC funding
Items for Future Agenda -
Morgan Stewart proposed expanding committee. There have been many interested parties and including
all those interested is beneficial for town.
1. Expanding Rec Advisory Committee

Ann Sigsbee and Kyle Wibee discussed having committee identify 1-2 ways to solicit community
members to provide input about what is desired from a recreation department.
2. Identify 1-2 ways to survey community members about desired Recreational opportunities
3. Create a list of events that are recreational and provided by town (please bring ideas)
Sharon Basso spoke to the fact that many families were struggling to access financial aid under new fee
structure.
4.Address and review Scholarship availability.
Sharon Basso asked when we needed to provide suggestions to make changes in budget. Tom Daley
and/or Alan Harrison will bring relevant budget information to next meeting and committee will ask Town
• Hall when we need to present budget suggestions to Select Board:

On a motion by Tracy Murphy and seconded by Kyle Wibee, it was voted to adjourn the meeting at 7:45
