The purpose of the Fraser Mural Program is to provide funding assistance to local property owners to enhance Town identity, to define the downtown area by turning ordinary spaces into community landmarks, and to instill a sense of community pride through the arts. Any property owner in the Town of Fraser interested in adding a mural to their building may apply for a grant for a mural project. A match is required to be eligible for the 2019 program; the applicant's match can be either a financial or in-kind contribution. To be considered for the 2020 program, applications must be submitted prior to Tuesday, April 16, 2020. To apply for this program, property owners (or tenants, with owner authorization) within the Town of Fraser may submit an application outlining their proposal using the attached application form. Murals must be completed within the current year. Mural applications will be reviewed by the Public Arts Committee. Criteria for review includes: Accessibility: located in a high-visibility place that is easily viewable by the public; Contemporary Relevance: geographically, socio-culturally, and historically relevant for our time; Feasibility: Timeline, scope; Permanence: will last a minimum of five years (Town of Fraser to provide an application of a UV/graffiti resistant coating) Other criteria as may be deemed appropriate by the Public Arts Committee. Submittal Requirements: Completed Fraser Mural Program Application (see next page); Site plan, sketch of project location, photographs, etc. to describe the project; Size dimensions of project location Initial design concept, if any (may be finalized once a location is chosen.) Murals must comply with Town of Fraser Sign Code. Designs of a political or religious nature will not be accepted. No profanity, obscenity, nudity, or overtly offensive subject matter will be allowed. This program cannot be used for projects that have been completed or initiated prior to approval. Upon approval, grant funds are provided after completion of the project and submission of certification of project expenses. Grantee may be subject to the receipt of a Form 1099 pursuant to the Internal Revenue Service and therefore must fill out the attached W-9 form.
