Press statement
Under the Provisions of the Watertown Home Rule Charter, the Town Manager is entrusted with
the administration of all personnel related matters, including bargaining with municipal
employees.
The collective bargaining agreement between the Town and the Watertown Police Association
expired on June 30, 2013, along with several other Town collective bargaining agreements. The
Town has been negotiating with the Watertown Police Association in good faith on a successor
collective bargaining agreement but has not yet reached a settlement.
Notwithstanding this, the Town remains committed to reaching an agreement with the Union that
is fair to the employees, the taxpayers of Watertown and the Town alike.
