Subject: Unscripted Bal Harbour Art Basel Miami Art Week 2023
The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to provide you with details of the various art
fairs and special events that we have coordinated access to for Bal Harbour residents and
visitors, as part of Art Basel/Miami Art Week 2023. Our partners this year include The Bass,
Perez Art Museum Miami (PAMM), Jewish Museum of Florida, YoungArts Campus, and the
Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA). Our curated lineup also includes access to SCOPE,
NADA, and Untitled Art Miami Beach art fairs. Pre -registration is required to access these
events and tickets are limited and on a first -come, first -served basis. A brochure will be
mailed to all residents next week containing all of these details.
ART FAIRS

Guided by a mission to support the wider art ecosystem, Untitled Art offers an inclusive and
collaborative platform for discovering contemporary art by emerging artists and historical
figures. Untitled Art will be presenting a program of curated special projects, monuments,
performances, podcast conversations, and events forthe 2023 edition. Bal Harbour residents
and visitors have access to a limited number of single -day passes, which will grant them

New Art Dealers Alliance (NADA Miami)

NADA Miami 2023 will showcase a diverse selection of 140 galleries, artspaces, and nonprofit
organizations spanning over 50 cities around the globe including San Juan, Paris, Chicago,
Memphis, Brussels, and Beijing. The fair will also feature the return of Curated Spotlight, a
special section highlighting a selection of galleries organized by a renowned curator and

Celebrating its 22nd edition, SCOPE Miami Beach returns to its bespoke pavilion on the sands
of Ocean Drive and 8th Street. SCOPE will welcome over 130 diverse contemporary
exhibitors, featuring the New Contemporary- a genre that stands as a critical contribution to
both global politics and local community engagement. The New Contemporary presents
daily programming amongst large-scale installations that bend, blend, and transcend genre.
Bal Harbour residents and visitors have access to a limited number of VIP passes offered on

The Power of Words, Opening Reception

Join us as we bring Miami Art Weekto Bal Harbour. This original exhibit, which will be located
along the Beach Access path south of Oceana, is a temporary installation from local resident,
and international artist, Tania Esponda Aja, which seamlessly unites nature and art. In the
artist's original language, vibrant red words thread emotions and meanings around the
natural landscape of the area. In this confluence of vivid reds and lush greens, the work
showcases emotion's enduring strength and the human spirit's resilience. Please RSVP to

Scholl Lecture Series: Gary Simmons in Conversation with Jadine Collingwood, Rene
Morales, and Franklin Sirmans

Kick off the opening of Gary Simmons: Public Enemy, and Miami Art Week, with a
conversation between artist Gary Simmons and exhibition curators Jadine Collingwood,
Ren6 Morales, and Franklin Sirmans. The panel will discuss how Simmons and his work have
played a key role in situating questions of race, class, and identity at the center of

Join MOCA as we celebrate Juan Francisco Elso: PorAm6rica, which features over 70 works
by Elso and a multigenerational group of artists that intertwine Indigenous traditions, Afro -
Caribbean beliefs, and postcolonial perspectives, and Jamea Richmond -Edwards: Ancient
Future, which is an exploration into Afrofuturism and Black mythologies through vibrant
paintings, film, and installations. The evening will include presentations by Paper Water,
Miami's Finest Majorettes, and Berraka. Refreshments will be provided throughout the

Guests will explore various highlights of the Museum's collection, including new exhibits
Painting Into Space by Etel Adnan, and I Will Always Weather You by Anne Duk Hee
Jordan. Unscripted Bal Harbour Art Access cardholders can also enjoy extended hours
at The Bass, which will be open daily 10 am - 6 pm during Miami Art Week except

tour of Desde el Charco, a solo exhibition by visual artist Isabella Mellado (2014 YoungArts
Winner in Visual Arts). Curated by Luisa Munera, YoungArts Senior Manager, Artistic
Programs and Curator, Desde el Charco is a journey of discovery and self -actualization and is
comprised of more than 30 works —including new works created specifically for the
exhibition —that analyze and redefine the artist's sense of self and the communities they

Kozloff and Jordana Pomeroy, director of the Frost Art Museum. A major figure in both the
Pattern and Decoration and the Feminist art movements of the 1970s, Kozloff has continued
to create bodies of work around cartography, decoration, history, material culture, and
