Short Title:
Ratification of application to Miami -Dade County for a $10,220 grant to plant 45 trees on Perviz Avenue and
approval of an Interlocal Agreement with Miami -Dade County for quarterly reporting on these trees.
Staff Summary:
Miami -Dade County, under its "Neat Streets Miami" program, has for the past half dozen years provided grants
to municipalities and other organizations to plant trees along roadways. Recently, staff was made aware that
the deadline for the FY 21 submission was very quickly approaching. In response to this, and as part of the
City's beautification program, staff has submitted a grant application to plant 45 Pink Tabebuia trees along the
east and west sides of Perviz Avenue between Dunad Avenue and NW 151st Street. The attached plans indicate
the intended location for each tree.
Staff has determined that the total cost of the project will be $20,442 with $17,675 for the purchase of the trees
and supporting supplies and $2,767 related to non -incremental staff time associated with the planting and
maintenance of the trees. This will be partially offset by a $10,220 grant. The budget is attached.
Notification will be provided by December 18, 2020 and the planting must be completed by June 25, 2021 with
a final report due by July 9, 2021. If awarded the grant, the City is obligated to conduct a community outreach
program to notify the residents along Perviz Avenue of the receipt of the grant and its impact on the
community.
Additionally, the City is required to participate in an Interlocal Agreement with the County to provide
reporting at least quarterly to the County as to the status of these trees.
