CORRECTIVE ACTIONS TAKEN FOLLOWING THE SPILLS ON 30 JUNE, 2013 AND 13 JULY, 2013
• The force mains to sewer lift stations 3 and 4 has been replaced and upgraded, at a total cost of
$278,875. There were 3,600 linear feet of 10 inch C-900 PVC installed for #3 and 1,800 linear feet of 8
inch C-900 PVC, installed for #4.
• The city is scheduled to replace 6,300 linear feet of 12 inch DI Force Main with new C-900 PVC, along
Jones Avenue, Solomon Avenue and Polk Street, the projected cost estimate is $600,000.00. Engineering
for #6 Force Main is 100%complete. GEFA funding has been applied for and bids for the project are due
in February 2014. #6 Force Main will take 6 to 9 months to complete after it has been awarded to a
contractor.
• The city has been testing our outfalls for Enterococci and intends to it in the future.
