HomeMy Public PortalAbout2020.07.15 PRAC MinutesParks & Recreation Advisory Committee Minutes July 15, 2020 6:00pm Virtual Meeting- McCall, Idaho Join Microsoft Teams Meeting+ 1 208-634-8900 Conference ID: 625 525 594# Committee Members Present: David Petty, Terry Edvalson, Forest Stanley, Andrew Testa and Larry Hauder Staff Member Present: Kurt Wolf & Stefanie Bork Welcome- Meeting was called to order by Forest Stanley at 6:04pm Public Comment- No public comment Agenda Review & Updates- None Introduction of Guests: No guests present Review minutes from previous meeting: March minutes were reviewed, Terry Edvalson motioned, Larry Hauder seconded, all were in favor. Business: l.Master Plan Parks and Recreation Update: Kurt updated the board that funding approval was not received from the LOT Committee. With limited funds the Masterplan will most likely be on hold until future funds become available. Terry mentioned the possibility of completing some the work inhouse and researching grant opportunities. Kurt mentioned inviting Delta the City Grand coordinator to the next committee meeting to discuss what other funding might be available. 2.Recreation Department Kurt and Stefanie gave an overview on current programming successes and failures in response to COVID-19. MT. Biking, Soccer, Tennis and Traveling Playground began the end of June and beg inning of July. Tara has been in contact with Central District Health and is continuing to discuss the best safety measures we can take to offer programming to the community. If at any time it is determined an event and or program can not be or is not taking place safely it will be discontinued. Currently McCall Parks and Recreation is sanitizing shared equipment in between each use, decreasing group size and requiring masks when physical distancing can not be achieved. Upcoming Events, Movie Night series- The first July 17 th date has been cancelled . McCall community conditions based on COVID-19 will be considered prior to the August Movie dates scheduled for August 7 and 28th. Mile High Swim Event will be taking place July 25th. The race has been closed at a max of 50 enrollments at this time most registrations are from out of Valley County. Tara and Stefanie are currently compiling ideas for pop-up programming in conjunction with our department and McCall Public Library. Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee Minutes July 15,2020 6:00pm Virtual Meeting- McCall, Idaho Join Microsoft Teams Meeting+ 1 208-634-8900 Conference ID: 625 525 594# 3.Parks Department LOT Expenditures: LOT funds will depend upon summer and fall tourism in McCall, the department is considering the likely hood of reduced funds. Kurt and staff are considering our LOT and CIP projects that can be delayed if necessary. Terry voiced concern over the City Downtown Snow Removal program; Kurt believes that will most likely be approved by Council. Parks Projects: Kurt gave an overview and status on Park Projects: --Noxious Weed Pull Together Fridays began July 10th and will continue thru August 14th . This program is offered in conjunction with Valley County. Stefanie will send the flyer to the committee for review and to help inform the community of this opportunity. -2"d street planters were planted by local landscapers Hank and Pavla Clouser and Gusti Laidlaw who donated their time and design skill. A generous donation from local plant nurseries, High Mountain Nursery and Franz Witte helped boost the appearance of the planters. The City originally planned a more cost-effective plant design for planters but with community help the planters will make a design statement. -Waterfront-The Urban Renewal Agency sunsets and available funds will be used to design and master plan North of the Marina through Brown Park shoreline. This work is being done with MURA and Horrocks Engineers. Funding the design now will allow plans to be readily available for additional funding opportunities to complete the project. Kurt will share design concepts at the next meeting. Swim lane lines and docks designed for the North of the Marina pool concept will be used at Rotary Park. Dock placement should be completed within the next two weeks.
