HomeMy Public PortalAbout2011.236 (11-01-11)RESOLUTION NO. 2011.236 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD APPROVING THE ALLOCATION OF FUNDS UNDER THE 2011 -12 SUPPLEMENTAL LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES FUNDS BY SB 823 FOR FRONT LINE LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES IN LYNWOOD AND APPROPRIATING $113,036 FROM THE UNAPPROPRIATED GENERAL FUND WHEREAS, Senate Bill 823 directs the California State Controller to allocate $100 million appropriated by the Legislature to counties and cities and certain special districts for the support of the Citizen's Option for Public Safety (COPS) Program; and WHEREAS, funds allocated to cities must be used for front line municipal police services and must supplement and not supplant existing funding for front line municipal police services, and , WHEREAS, front line law enforcement services include anti -gang and community crime prevention programs; and WHEREAS, the Lynwood City Council conducted a public hearing on November 1, 2011 to receive comments on the proposed use of Supplemental Law Enforcement Services funds NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES HEREBY FIND, PROCLAIM, ORDER AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS. Section 1. That the City Council has duly conducted the public hearing on the appropriation of Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Fund allocated for the City of Lynwood Section 2. That the City Council approves the Sheriff's request for appropriation of Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Funds in the amount of $113,036, allocated by SB 823 for front line law enforcement services in Lynwood for the following purposes. � Y L "'aw!Erifo'rcement.l`Jn , � ,, ,' • , 1 3 i"A !'.. o 1 — COPS Special Assignment Deputy for Five Months $61,138 1 — Motorcycle Deputy for Four Months $53,118 TOTAL. $114,256 Section 3. That the City Council authorizes the City Manager to make such appropriations as are necessary to fund the services set out in Section 2 above, in the event the Supplemental Law Enforcement Funds are not sufficient to meet the expenditures for such services. Similarly, the City Council further authorizes the City Manager to extend the period of services set out in the chart in Section 2 above, until full use of the Supplemental Law Enforcement Services funds has been made. Section 4. That the City Council of the City of Lynwood authorizes the City Manager or Designee to appropriate monies from the Unappropriated General Fund to the State COPS Program Fund for FY 12. Section 5. That the City Council approves the following appropriation: From. Amount: To: Unappropriated $113,036 2051 40.225 62015 General Fund (1011) Section 6.
