A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD APPROVING
AN AMENDMENT TO THE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF LYNWOOD AND
BEYOND SHELTER TO ADMINISTER THE CITY'S HOMELESSNESS PREVENTION
RAPID RE- HOUSING PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the City's Five Year Consolidated Plan states that the City intends
to end chronic homelessness by 2012; and
WHEREAS, HPRP funds were allocated in the spring 2009 with a three -year
grant term; and
WHEREAS, due to the significant need, Lynwood was allocated $646,575 in
Federal funds to administer a Program designed to assist those renters who are in
danger of becoming homeless and /or those persons who are in temporary housing; and
WHEREAS, on November 17, 2009 the City of Lynwood approved resolution
2009.220 to enter into a contract with Beyond Shelter to administers its Homelessness
Prevention Rapid Re- housing Program; and
WHEREAS, on August 19, 2011 the City of Lynwood officially met the 2 -year
HPRP 60 percent draw -down requirement; and
WHEREAS, The City of Lynwood Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-
Housing program along with Beyond Shelter has assisted 111 households.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF LYNWOOD HEREBY RESOLVES AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the Lynwood City Council authorizes Beyond Shelter to
continue to administer its Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re- Housing Program
Section 2. That the Lynwood City Council authorizes the City Manager or his
designee to execute the amendment to the agreement with Beyond Shelter for the time
period of November 30, 2009 and terminating on November 30, 2012, extending the
original contract for twelve months.
Section 3. That this Resolution shall go into effect immediately upon its
adoption.
