PROFESSIONAL SERVICES CONTRACT WITH JACK VENTURI,
ESQ./ SERGEANT JEFFREY VAN WOEART
WHEREAS, Sergeant Jeffrey Van Woeart has requested that the Borough of Carteret
provide for legal defense in a Municipal Court proceeding instituted against him as a
result of the performance of his duties; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:14 -155 and the Collective Bargaining Agreement,
the Borough is obligated to provide said legal counsel to police officers charged with a
criminal offense while in the performance of their ditties; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Ordinance 494 -59 the Mayor and Council of the Borough of
Carteret have established a rate to be paid to attorneys hired to provide said defense at a
rate of $125.00 per hour not to exceed $500.00 for any case adjudicated by any municipal
court in the State of New Jersey; and
WHEREAS, the Chief Financial Officer has certified that finds are available for same;
and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Jeffrey Van Woeart has requested the legal representation of Jack
Venturi, Esq. ;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Mayor and Council of the Borough
of Carteret that the appointment of Jack Venturi, Esq. to provide legal defense for
Sergeant Jeffrey Van Woearl is hereby approved at a rate of $125.00 per hour not to
exceed the sum of $500.00; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and Municipal Clerk are hereby
authorized to execute a contract for such services; and

And the Borough of Carteret a municipal Corporation having its Principal Office at the
Borough Hall, 61 Cooke Avenue, Carteret, New Jersey.
As per Resolution Number 12 -160.
THE CONTRACTOR does hereby agree to perform the following:
PROFESSIONAL SERVICE CONTRACT LEGAL DEFENCE OF SERGEANT
JEFFREY VAN WOEART IN MUNICIPAL COURT PROCEEDING INSTITUTED
AGAINTS THEM AS A RESULT OF THE PERFORMANCE OF THEIR DUTIES.
NOT TO EXCEED $500.00
According to the terms set forth in the Resolution.
THE BOROUGH does hereby agree to pay the Contractor the sum set forth in the
Resolution.
