A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD APPROVING
THE STREET CLOSURE FOR DUNCAN AVENUE BLOCK WATCH AND WAIVING
PERMIT FEES IN THE AMOUNT OF $490.00
WHEREAS, a request was made by the Block Watch Club of Duncan Avenue to
close a portion of Duncan Avenue (between Beechwood Avenue and Elmwood
Avenue); and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the closure is to host a Christmas Posada; and
WHEREAS, the Neighborhood Block Watch program promotes safety and crime
awareness; and
WHEREAS, the residents of Duncan Avenue are requesting the street closure
for Thursday, December 22, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY DOES HEREBY FIND,
PROCLAIM, ORDER AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council hereby finds that the temporary closure of Duncan
Avenue (between Beechwood Avenue and Elmwood Avenue) for the Christmas Posada
celebration is consistent with the requirements of vehicle code section 21101 (e) insofar
as such closure is necessary for the protection and safety of persons who are to use
that portion of the street during the temporary closing. As such, the City Council hereby
approves such temporary closure on December 22, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Section 2. The City Council approves the street closure with a waiver of permit
fees and the provision of no City of Lynwood assistance beyond the basic requirements
for the street closure.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED THIS 6 th day of December, 2011.
