SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The City of McCall residents currently receive solid waste collection through a company that has contracted with the County to provide these services, Lake Shore Disposal. The City of
McCall is charged by law with the duty of providing for the preservation and protection of the health and welfare of its inhabitants, and has the power and authority to regulate, control
and provide for solid waste disposal under powers conferred by the laws of the State of Idaho.
At the October 25, 2012 City Council Meeting Council directed staff to develop a Request for Proposals (RFP) for Solid Waste Management. Three Solid Waste Collection providers submitted
proposals to the City for consideration: Emmett Sanitation, Lake Shore Disposal, and Republic Services. Staff has prepared a memo (attached) that calls out the specific services each
provider offers as well as pros and cons of each service. Also attached are the three proposals.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Staff requests that Council direct staff to:
Enter into negotiations with one of the providers for either subscription or mandatory Solid Waste Collection
Pursue a code amendment if necessary
Schedule a work session for contract development
