SUMMARY STATEMENT:
At the August 13, 2015 City Council Meeting the Council directed staff to prepare the ordinance and summary for adoption. After months of Community Conversations and recapping all the
information gathered, the Council reviewed taxing options for the 2015 Local Option Sales Tax Initiative at the July 23, 2015 City Council Meeting. The attached ordinance and summary
has been reviewed by the City Attorney.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
1. Suspend the rules, read by title only, one time only, Ordinance No. _____, Imposing a non-property tax of one percent (1%) on the sales price of all property subject to taxation
under Idaho Code 63 3601 items excluding groceries and motor vehicles and an additional 3% occupancy tax of short term rentals,
2. Adopt Ordinance No. ____, Imposing a non-property tax of one percent (1%) on the sales price of all property subject to taxation under Idaho Code 63 3601 items excluding groceries
and motor vehicles, and an additional three percent (3%) occupancy tax of short term rentals, approve the publication of the summary, approve the ballot initiative, and authorize the
Mayor to sign all necessary documents.
