A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD ALLOWING
FOR THE USE OF LYNWOOD CITY PARK BY ST. FRANCIS MEDICAL CENTER
TO HOST THE VIDA SANA 5/10K RUN/WALK TO BRING AWARENESS OF THE
HEALTH RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH OBESITY AND DIABETES
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lynwood recognizes that the purpose
of the Vida Sana 5/10K Run/Walk is to bring public awareness to the prevention of
obesity and diabetes in children and adults; and
WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood has a desire to support efforts to meet the
health and social needs of the community; and
WHEREAS, the use of Lynwood City Park by St. Francis Medical Center to host
the Vida Sana 5/10K RunMalk for the entire community serves the valid public purpose
of promoting health and the pursuit of a healthy lifestyle for Lynwood resident;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE AND DETERMINE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Lynwood hereby finds that an
important public purpose is served by allowing the use of Lynwood City Park by St.
Francis Medical Center insofar as such donated services encourage the Lynwood
community to be supportive of causes meeting health and social needs.
The City of Lynwood hereby approves providing the above support necessary to
facilitate the Vida Sana 5/10K Run/Walk by the St. Francis Medical Center.
Section 2. Any cost associated with the City of Lynwood's support in said
event is approved to cover $3,833 for public works services and $576 in recreation staff
event monitoring, with funding being allocated form City Council discretionary funds
divided equally amongst the five council members.
Section 3. This Resolution is effective immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 20th day of December 2011.
