SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Legislation went into effect on January 1, 2011 that establishes counties as the officials for all elections. Idaho Code §34-1205 and §34-1206 state that the county board of commissioners
shall be the county board of canvassers and the county clerk shall serve as their secretary for this purpose; and the board shall examine and make a statement of the total number of
votes cast for all candidates or special questions that shall have been voted upon at the election. Attached is the Valley County Board of Commissioners canvass results of the November
3, 2015 General Election.
Idaho Code §50-1046 requires that a 60 percent majority of voters approve a local option non-property tax measure. Idaho Statute 34-1801B requires a majority of voters to pass the citizen
led initiative for the minimum wage increase.
Also attached is Resolution 15-17 which ratifies the County Commissioners canvass of the November 3, 2015 General Election.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution 15-17 ratifying the Valley County Commissioners canvass of the November 3, 2015 General Election and authorize the Mayor to sign all necessary documents.
