SUMMARY STATEMENT:
In a continuing effort to bring the Street Department’s equipment fleet up to date, Public Works issued Bid Number 15-01 for an Asphalt Hot Box. This piece of equipment will allow the
Streets Division to produce hot asphalt by reclaiming old asphalt, such as what comes off of old city streets or the airport runways/taxiways during reconstruction. This will significantly
improve our ability to repair streets and potholes, especially during the late fall thru spring months. This will also eliminate the need to buy cold mix to repair potholes.
Public Works issued an Invitation to Bid to purchase a Four Ton Asphalt Hot Box. The Invitation to Bid included specific instructions to the bidders regarding the requirements that the
Streets Division had. The bid opening was on March 2, 2015. Three bids (KM International, Falcon Road Maintenance Equipment, and Spaulding Mfg., Inc.) were received and were reviewed
by the Public Works Director.
A bid tabulation is included with this Agenda Bill for your review. It is the recommendation that Bid Number PW15-01 be awarded to KM International.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Award Bid Number PW15-01 to KM International and authorize the Mayor to sign all necessary documents.
