SUMMARY STATEMENT:
In a continuing effort to being more proactive in the required maintenance of our water system, Public Works issued Bid Number 15-02 for a Valve Exercise & Vac Tank Trailer. This piece
of equipment will allow the Utilities Division to properly exercise the many valves located in the water system. This equipment also has a water and vacuum tank to aid in the cleaning
of not only the valve boxes, but also our storm drain inlets and some of the lift stations. This will significantly enhance our ability to maintain our water system in good or better
condition. There are also pieces of equipment that can be purchased to run off the hydraulic system of this machine such as jack hammers and the ability to flush hydrants.
Public Works issued an Invitation to Bid to purchase a Valve Exerciser and Vac Tank Trailer. The Invitation to Bid included specific instructions to the bidders regarding the requirements
that the Utilities Division had. The bid opening was on March 3, 2015. Two bids (Industrial Systems, Inc. md Metroquip, Inc.) were received and were reviewed by the Public Works Director.
These are the only two distributors in this country of this equipment.
A bid tabulation is included with this Agenda Bill for your review. It is the recommendation that Bid Number PW15-02 be awarded to Industrial Systems, Inc.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Award Bid Number PW15-02 to Industrial Systems, Inc. and authorize the Mayor to sign all necessary documents.
