AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE GREENCASTLE PLANNING AND
ZONING ORDINANCE BY AMENDING THE ZONING MAP
WHEREAS, the Plan Commission of the City of Greencastle, pursuant to the petition of the Putnam
County Board of Commissioners has prepared this Ordinance to amend the Greencastle Planning and Zoning
Ordinance by amending the zoning map; and
WHEREAS, the Greencastle Plan Commission has reported that it held a public hearing concerning
this Ordinance on March 25, 2002, after timely notice of the hearing was given by publication in the Banner -
Graphic, Greencastle, Indiana on March 15, 2002; and
WHEREAS, the Greencastle Plan Commission has reported that it paid reasonable regard to the
following factors enumerated in I.C. 36 -7 -4 -603 in consideration of the Ordinance and determination of a
recommendation to be made to the Common Council:
1. Comprehensive Plan;
2. Current conditions and the character of current structures and uses in each district;
3. The most desirable use for which land in each district is adapted;
4. The conservation of property values throughout the jurisdiction; and
5. Responsible growth and development; and
® WHEREAS, the Greencastle Plan Commission has certified this Ordinance to the Common Council
with a recommendation by a majority vote in favor of adoption; and
WHEREAS, the Common Council has considered the recommendation of the Greencastle Plan
Commission and has paid reasonable regard to the factors enumerated in I.C. 36 -7 -4 -603 before acting on this
Ordinance; and
WHEREAS, the Common Council has determined that this Ordinance should be adopted without
amendment as certified by the Greencastle Plan Commission.
NOW THEREFORE be it ordained and adopted by the Common Council of the City of Greencastle,
Indiana, that:
The City of Greencastle Zoning Map, Chapter 10 -38 of the City of Greencastle Code
is hereby amended by changing the Zoning classification for the following described
real estate from R2/R3 to C2, in accordance with I.C. 36 -7 -4 -614:
Apart ofthe Southwest quarter ofthe Southwest quarter of Section 16, Township 14
North, Range 4 West, in the City of Greencastle, Indiana consisting of 1) Lots 2 and
3, and a part of Lots 1 and 4 ofthe Northern or Doggy's Enlargement to the Town,
now City of Greencastle, 2) Lot 3 and a part of Lots 4 and 13 of the School
Commissioners' Plat of Section 16, Township 14 North, Range 4 West, excepting
that portion taken by the rights -of -way of Madison Street and Liberty Street, 3) Lot 5
and a part of Lot 4 of Osborn's Subdivision of Lots 3 and 4 of the .School
® Commissioners' Plat of Section 16, Township 14 North, Range 4 West, 4) That
portion of Jacob Street bounded by Madison Street on the West and extending East
294.85 feet and 5) That portion of the 13 foot alley in the Northern or Daggy's
Enlargement bounded by Doggy Street on the Na and Jacob Street on the South,
® all of which is more particularly described as follows:
Beginning at a point at the intersection of the East line of Madison Street with the
North line of Liberty Street; thence North 602.5 feet with the East line of Madison
Street to the South line of Doggy Street, thence East 294.85 with said South line;
thence South parallel with the East line of Madison Street, 602.5 feet to the North
line of Liberty Street; thence West 294.85 feet with said North line to the point of
beginning. Containing 4.08 acres, more or less.
Except therefrom
Lots 2 and 3, and 52 feet off the West end ofLots I and 4 ofthe Northern or Daggy's
Enlargement to the Town, now City of Greencastle.
2. That a condition to the property being re -zoned is that it may be used only as a
governmental facility.
This Ordinance shall have full force and effect upon passage. The Clerk- Treasurer of the City of
Greencastle is ordered to have this Ordinance published by inserting a copy ofthe Ordinance in each ofthe two
(2) sets of the City of Greencastle Code, maintained on file for public inspection in the office of the Clerk -
Treasurer.

This ordinance amends the Greencastle Zoning Map, Chapter 10 -38 of the City of Greencastle Code Amendment
to Rezone approximately 4.08 acres located North of Liberty Street, South of Daggy Street, East of Madison
Street, and West of Jackson St. from a R2 and R3 zones to a C2 zone.

amend the City of Greencastle Planning and Zoning Ordinance by amending the zoning map; and
WHEREAS, the Greencastle Plan Commission has reported that it held a public hearing concerning this
ordinance on March 25, 2002, after timely notice of the hearing was given by publication in the Banner-
Graphic Greencastle, Indiana on March 15, 2002; and
WHEREAS, the Greencastle Plan Commission has reported that it paid reasonable regard to the following

Plan Commission, and incorporated herein and made a part of this certification.
