AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING SCHOOL ZONE SPEED LIMITS
WITHIN THE CITY OF GREENCASTLE, PUTNAM COUNY, INDIANA
WHEREAS, the City of Greencastle desires to establish appropriate school zone speed limits
for the health and safety of its students and the traveling public; and
WHEREAS, the City of Greencastle has consulted with a professional engineering firm, and
has recommended alterations to current speed limits; and
WHEREAS, the proposed changes are in conformance with the Uniform Manual on Traffic
Control Devices.
NOW THEREFORE be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Greencastle that
the following roads, streets, and rights of way be designated as school zones and the speed limit be
reduced to 20 miles per hour:
1. Ridpath
School Zone
a.
Elm Street from Locust to Illinois
b.
Apple Street from Crown to Illinois
c.
Howard Street from Locust to Illinois
® d.
Central Street from Hanna to Howard
e.
Crown Street from Hanna to Ohio
Deer Meadow School Zone
a. Shadowlawn from Redbud to 150 feet West of Robinwood
b. Deerfield from Deer Meadow East entrance to Fawnview
c. Quail Ridge from Deerfield to end of culdesac
High School and Middle School Zone
a. Washington Street from Hammond Drive to Percy L. Julian Dr.
b. Avenue D from Percy L. Julian Dr. to 150 feet East of Percy L. Julian Dr.
c. Mill Pond Drive, if and when it is dedicated to the City as a city street
d. Percy L. Julian Dr. from Veterans Highway to Avenue C
e. Avenue E from Percy L. Julian Drive extending 150 feet east
f Avenue F
Tzounakis School Zone
a. Lynwood from Shadowlawn to Tzounakis School
b. Ritter Avenue from Cameron to Tacoma
c. Cameron Drive from Lynwood to Arlington
d. Tacoma from Arlington to "fzounakis School
0 NOW THEREFORE be it further ordained that Ordinance 2001 -16, An Ordinance
® Establishing a School Zone and Reducing the Speed Limit within the City of Greencastle, Indiana,
Putnam County, is hereby revoked and of no effect, and is replaced by this Ordinance, and all speed
limits for streets listed in Ordinance 2001 -16 shall revert to 30 miles per hour unless specifically
otherwise designated above.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Common Council of the City of Greencastle, Indiana this
