SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The purpose of this agenda item is to provide City Council with an update on health insurance renewal options for FY17 budget. City Staff have received quotes from PacificSource, Blue
Cross, and Select Health. Based on the quotes received from the carriers mentioned, staff asked the City’s broker to go back to the carriers and work on some plan design changes as
their original plan designs were not optimal and would result in a lower benefit level for employees, if selected.
At the time of this agenda bill, the updated quotes reflecting our requested plan design changes have not been received. Updated quotes and plan design information will be collected
during a meeting with our broker, Echelon Group, on Friday August 19, 2016.
Staff plans to provide a complete memo to Council at their August 25, 2016 meeting which details all information learned during our August 19, 2016 meeting with our broker.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Provide direction to staff regarding health insurance options presented.
