SUMMARY STATEMENT:
City Council has requested that staff provide a discussion regarding the traffic congestion and pedestrian safety concerns at the SH-55 (3rd Street) and Railroad Avenue intersection.
This intersection, along with others along SH-55, is being studied as part of the City’s Transportation Master Plan. Attached is a memorandum from Kittleson Engineers (sub-consultant
to Logan Simpson) outlining work being conducted by their firm.
Erika Bowen from the Idaho Transportation Department (ITDs) will also be in attendance to provide comment regarding this intersection and what ongoing planning efforts and future collaboration
may be provided by ITD. It is intended that this will be the start of an ongoing conversation regarding opportunities short and long term mitigation measures that could improve the
congestion and safety issues is currently occurring.
