To date, vacation or short-term rentals have not been required to obtain any land use approvals for this type of use within residential zones. However, short term rentals located within the City limits are required to obtain a business. Short-term rentals within the City limits are subject to paying Local Option Tax and play an important role in the McCall economy. Attached is a memo outlining the background of the issue and four potential options for addressing the issue. Staff will be available to answer questions or provide any feedback at the City Council meeting.  RECOMMENDED ACTION: Direct staff to develop option that best addresses the issue. December 20, 2013 There was more discussion about the lodge or short term vacation rental with some public input.  March 27, 2014 More discussion on the pros and cons of tools to manage short-term rental with some public input.
