SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The McCall Public Library staff members wish to scan and file historic records to include oral history transcripts, obituaries, and the newspaper clipping files maintained by Progressive
Club volunteers. These records are fragile and are at risk of further deterioration. There are several grant opportunities available that would provide funding for equipment for record
digitization as well as establish a public portal to allow public access to these digital files.
Staff members are researching equipment needs and costs. The project would require staff time as well as the use of Library volunteers. Project details and costs will be presented
at the City Council meeting for Council consideration.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve submission of Idaho Heritage Trust and Shelton Foundation grants for Library digital historic records access and authorize the Mayor to sign all necessary documents.
