SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Capital Matrix administers the Jeff Tunison Community Grant program to foster economic development projects in communities. The City of McCall received a grant from this program in
2013 to assist with the McCall Downtown Master Plan (DMP). One recommendation of the DMP was to develop a downtown improvement grant program to provide financial support for local
businesses wishing to invest in improvement projects that will enrich or enhance the aesthetics, function, or character of downtown. These improvements could include building façade
treatments, pedestrian or bicycle amenities, public art, sidewalk improvements, or landscaping. The Downtown Improvement Grant program would require a cost share from the business
owner and a selection committee would be developed to review the applications and recommend projects for funding. The Downtown Improvement Grant program could become an annual program
that would incentivize improvements to properties to help make incremental improvements to downtown and improve the public’s experience.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve submission of a Jeff Tunison Community Grant application for the development of a downtown improvement grant program and authorize the Mayor to sign all necessary documents.
