ORDINANCE AbTHORIZING THE
PURCHASE OF CI~RTAIN REAL PROPEIRTY
~TII~EAS, the Mayor and Borough Council of the Borough of Carteret have been
attempting to revitalize the tow~ center area near the Borough Hall as part
of the ongoing efforts to promote business growth and tax ratables within
the Borough of Carteret, (the "Borough"); and
WHEREAS, the nature of this revitalization requit:es that the Borough of
Carteret obtain certain land and buildings which are not being well maintained
or are presently abandoned; and
WHEREAS, the property ot~mers of said p~operties (the "P:ope:t~es") have
indicated that they would be willing to sell said Properties to the Borough;
and
WHEREAS, the Local Lands and Buildings Law (N.J.S.A. 40A:12-1, et seq.) permits
such purchases of real property;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAIN[D that the Mayor and Borough Council on behalf
of the Borough are hereby authorized to acquire the following properties
w~th~n the Borough fo~ the amount set forth herein.
a.) Lots 1 and 4 Block 190 (70 Cooke Avenue) - $650,)00
b.) Lot 2, Block 190 (66 Cooke Avenue) - $225,000
c.) Lot 3, Block 192 (64 Cooke Avenue) - $219,000
BE IT FURR~tER ORDAINED that the Mayor and Clerk are authorized to execute
snch documents as necessary to accomplish the above described transaction;
BE IT FURR~IER ORDAINED that this Ordinance shall become effective immediately
upon adoption, approza[ and publication, as cequired by law.
