Michael and Jane Quinn, 16 Dune Road, Map 79 Lot 59
Roof Mounted Solar Shingles
■ Owner Michael Queen reviewed the application with the committee .
■ Mr . Quinn informed the committee that one of the companies he was working with informed
him that his roof is not suitable for solar shingles and the other company he was looking into
using went out of business .
■ Mr . Quinn would like the committee to reconsider all black solar panels with black aluminum
frames .
■ Mr . Trabulise stated that the house is very visible and if Mr . Quinn was able to put vegetation /
screening it may help to minimize the impact of the panels . Mr . Trabulsie also stated that the
plantings could be used as a distraction from the solar panels .
■ Mr . Quinn stated that the lower roof would not have panels . The elevated roof is two ( 2 ) stories
high and the screening from the street would not completely hide the panels .
■ Ms . Appleton stated that a black roof is required if solar panels were to be considered .
■ Mr . Bergquist stated that he was not in favor of the panels due to the visibility of the home and
the solar panels would be too obvious on this property . Mr . Bergquist also stated that he did
not feel vegetation or plantings on the property will be enough to screen the panels .
■ Mr . Carey would like to see a landscape plan before approving the solar panels to determine if
plantings could be used as a distraction from seeing the solar panels .
■ Tom Turcketta moved to approve the roof being replaced with black shingles . Mr . Turcketta
also approved the solar panels pending a landscape design . If the committee approves the
landscape design, an Amendment would need to be filed to change this application from solar
shingles to solar panels . Carol Appleton seconded .
■ All voted in favor .
