SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Valley County is holding a public hearing scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on November 20, 2017 on the attached draft ordinance. If adopted, this ordinance would replace 2008 ordinance (attached)
which eliminates some elements outlined in the draft letter (attached). The new ordinance does not change the current 300’ No Wake Zone. A letter from Cutler Umbach protesting the new
ordinance changes is also attached.
Staff talked about the changes to the ordinance with Sgt. Jason Speer of the Valley County Sheriff's Office. The Sheriff’s Office is interested in having one ordinance for all the water
bodies in Valley County and concerned about the lack of resources to enforce the 2008 ordinance.
A draft letter is provided as a template and can be modified based on the Council’s discussion. Staff will present to answer any questions from the City Council.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Discuss the current ordinance and send a letter from the City of McCall regarding the Valley County Waterways Ordinance for the November 20 public hearing.
