AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD APPROVING THE
ANNEXATION OF THAT CERTAIN PROPERTY IN THE COUNTY
OF LOS ANGELES LYING NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF CA-
RESS STREET AND MORTON ROAD.
WHEREAS, pursuant to the "Annexation of Uninhabited Terri-
tory Act of 1939 ", a petition was filed with the City Clerk and duly
presented to the City Council of the City of Lynwood on February 1,
1949 requesting the annexation to the City of Lynwood of that certain
uninhabited territory contiguous to the City of Lynwood designated as
"that certain property in the County of Los Angeles lying near the
intersection of Caress Street and Morton Road" and hereinafter particu-
larly described; and
WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 2186 published in the Lynwood
Press on February 25 and March 4, 1949, the City Council of the City
of Lynwood duly gave notice of and fixed the 5th day of April, 1949,
at 8 o'clock p. m. in the Council Chambers in the City Hall, 11331
Plaza Street, Lynwood, California, as the day, hour, and place when
and where any person owning real property in such territory so pub-
lished to be annexed and having any objection to the proposed annexa-
tion might appear before said City Council and show cause why such
territory should not be so annexed; and
WHEREAS, no protest has been filed; and
WHEREAS, all proceedings have been in conformity with law;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Lynwood does
ordain as follows:
SECTION 1: 'That pursuant to the "Annexation of Uninhabited
Territory Act of 1939" the annexation of that certain uninhabited
territory contiguous to the City of Lynwood in the County of Los Angeles,
State of California, designated as "that certain property in the County
of Los Angeles lying near the Intersection of Caress Street and Morton
Road" as hereinafter more particularly described hereby is approved.

Said property lying near the intersection of Caress Street
and Morton Road is included within the boundary line described as
follows:
That portion of Lot 140 and portions of abutting
streets of Tract 8716 as shown on map recorded in
Book 145, Pages 63 and 64 of Maps, Records of Los
.Angeles County, California, described as follows:
Beginning at the intersection of the center line of
Morton Road and a line 20 feet westerly of and
parallel to the center line of Caress Street as shown
on said map; thence southerly along said last described
line 105..00 feet; thence South 71 degrees, 5 minutes
East 101.12 feet to a point; thence North 18 degrees,
53 minutes East 105.00 feet to aforementioned center
line of Morton Road; thence westerly in a direct
line to "the point of beginning.
SECTION 2: This ordinance is urgently required for the
immediate preser Nation of public peace, health and safety in the City
of Lynwood and shall be in effect immediately upon adoption. The
following is a specific statement showing the emergency of this
ordinance:
The existence of this County "island" within the City of
Lynwood causes great confusion in elections', police protection, fire
protection, and street and sewer maintenance. Immediate enactment of
this ordinance is necessary to insure the general welfare and con-
tinued progress of the City of Lynwood.
SECTION 3: The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this ordinance and shall cause same to be published once in the
Lynwood Press.
