AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE
NUMBERING OF HOUSES AND BUILDINGS
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MEDINA ORDAINS AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I:
Section 6 of Ordinance No. 124 is hereby repealed.
SECTION II:
Ordinance No. 124 is hereby amended by the addition of
the following material:
Section 6. Numbering of Houses and Buildings. Subdivi-
sion 1. Numbers Required. Each owner and each and
every occupant of a house or commerical building in the
City of Medina shall place in a location in conformance
with this section house or building address numbers or
identification in accordance with the following:
(a) Address numbers or identification shall be
placed so to be directly and conveniently
visible from public access to the house or
building.
1. Address numbers or identification shall
be placed on or above the front door of
any house or building if the front door
of such house or building is clearly
visible from the public right-of-way.
2. In the case of a house or building
located in such manner that the front
door of the house or building is not
clearly visible from the public right-of-
way, address numbers or identification
shall be placed near the intersection of
the driveway or road serving the house or
building and the public right-of-way at a
location clearly visible from the public
right-of-way.
3. In the case of two or more houses or
buildings sharing a single driveway or
road for purposes of egress and ingress:
(a) if the front doors of the houses or
buildings are not visible from the
public right-of-way, address numbers
or identification of all houses and
buildings served by the driveway or
private road shall be placed near
the intersection of the driveway or
private road and the public right-
of-way at a location clearly visible
from the public right-of-way and at
one of the additional locations:
(1) The front door of the house or
building if such house or
building is clearly visible
from the point where the driveway
or private road divides to
serve the various houses or
buildings; or
(2) The location where the driveway
or private road divides to
serve the various houses or
buildings.
(b) Address numerals or identification shall be
constructed of durable material and shall be
of contrasting color to the base to which they
are attached.
Subdivision 2. Duties of Police Chief; Enforcement. It
is the duty of the Chief of Police or his designated
authority to enforce this section. The Chief of Police
shall give the owner or occupant of any house or building
which does not conform with this section 15 days written
notice within which to comply with the terms thereof.
SECTION III:
This ordinance becomes effective upon its adoption and
publication. Adopted by thCity Council of the City of
Medina this 5 day of Lc.„/ , 1983.
