HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrd. 0029Ordinance No. 21 ,f An Ordinance of the Board of Trustees of the City of Lynwood, California, regulating the erection and maintenance of Blinker Lights upon and adjacent to public highways in the said City of Lynwood, and providing a penalty for the violation of any of the provisions hereof. The Board of Trustees of the City of Lynwood does ordain as fol- lows: "-= Section- 1,:- The . follow .ing_- w.ords._.and__ phrases -used in this Ordi- nanceshall have the meandngs herein ascribed to them: "Blinker Light.'gA light whether colored or uncolored which emits an intermittent light. Section 2: No persom shall erect or maintain or cause or permit to be erected or maintained any "blinker light upon or adjacent to any street within the City of Lynwood whether on public or private prop- erty, which emits a light the same as or similar to highway warning, danger or signal lights and which blihker light is so located as to be visible from any public tsreet unless under and in accordance with the terms of a hermit in writing first obtained from the Board of Trustees of the bity of Lynwood. The provisions of this Ordinance shall not be deemed to apply to advertising signs upon private property consisting of continuous or in- termittent lights in the form of illuminated words, letters or figures or,protraying any advertising scene, figure or emblem and so construct - ed, arranged and located as to be clearly distinguishable from a high- way warning, danger or signal light. __ Nor shall this Ordinance be deemed to apply to any government Tighthouse nor 'to ariy Pia``rning;' - d' anger - or - signal - light -, heretofdire or- - hereafter erected or maintained as required by law or under orders of any Board or Commission of the State of California. Section':3: Any person desiring to erect or maintain any blinker light or lights upon or adjacent to any street so located as to be vis- ible from ant street shall first make application in writing so to do to the Board of Trustees, which application shall state the proposed location of such light or lights, and a brief description of the pro- posed light or lights. The Board of Trustees shall consider every such application, and if it finds that the blinker light or lights proposed to be erected will serve as a warning to persons using the street and will tend to increase the safety of the traveling public, shall issue a permit in writing authorizing the erection and maintenance of such blinker light or lights. Such permit shall be valid until revoked and no charge shall be made for any such permit. Section '4: Any person violating any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall °be- puftished by -�a fine not exceeding Cne. Hundred (4100.00).,Dollars or by imprisonment in the City or County jail not exceeding thirty (30) days or by both such fine andimprisdnment. A ,judgment imposing a fine may provide for its collection by imprisonment in the said City or County jail at the rate of one,(1)`d6Ly,for each Dollar of such fine until the same shall be wholly;.satisfied ,- Section 5: The City•Clerk shall certify.to the passage of this .a >, Ord'inar ey and its approval by the .Pr esident of the Board of Trustees, and ,oause , the same to be published once in The Lynwood Tribune.
