HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrd. 0037r• f ORDINANCE NO�_ An Ordinance of the Board of Trustees of the City of Lynwood, Cal., approving the Annexation to the said City of Lynwood of "Addition No ." rYY,�iiereas the Board of Trustees of the City of Lynwood on the 3- day of 1924, received a written petition signed by not less than one- foirth (4) of the qualified electors residing in the territory described therein (and hereinafter described) as shown by the registration of voters of the County of Los Angeles, being the County in which such ter- ritory is situated, which said petition contained a description of certain new territory proposed to be annexed to, ineepgerated the City of Lynwood, and asked that such territory be annexed to, incorporated in and made a part of the said City of Lynwood; and whereas the said petition contained a re- quest that the question be submitted to the electors residing in the said territory, as hereinafter set forth, and Whereas the said Board of Trustees i ediately after the beceipt -of the said petition and on the _1j day of _C --- --- 1924, did by its Resolution No _L on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Lynwood order that a Spec }'a1 Election be held in the territory so proposed to be annexed, on the -A-T. day of _ �_K� , 1924; and that notice of such Special Election be given by the publication of a notice thereof in "The New Compton," the same being a newspaper of general circulation printed and published outside of the City of Lynwood but in the County of Los Ange- les, at least once a week for a period of five successive weeks next preced- ing the date of .such election; the said notice being set forth substantially in said Resolution, and Whereas the said petition requested, and the said notice specified, that the said election be called and held in pursgance of.the provisions of the Act of the Legislature of the State of California entitled "An Act to - provide for - the Alteration of the Boundaries of; and for the Annexation of Territory to Municipal Corporations; for the Incorporation of such Annexed" Territory in and as a part thereof, and for the Districting, Government and Municipal Control of such Annexed Territory," approved June 11th, 1913, and all amendments thereof,.and Whereas the said notice set forth in detail all matters required by law, including the date of such election, the proposal required to be sub- mitted, a specific description of the boundaries of the territory proposed to be annexed, and a of territory as "Addition No g- to the City of Lynwood," and Whereas pursuant to the proceedings hereinafter indicated and.in ac- cordance with the provisions of the said Act of the Legislature of the State of California, and all amendments thereof; a Special Election was held in the territory in said petition and hereinafter des c ibed and designated as "Addition No _ to, the City of Lynwood," on the _� day of 1924; at which election there was submitted to such electors the said pro sition, and Whereas notice of such election was given by publication in the time, form and manner required by.said Act, as.appears from the affidavit of publication on file with the City Clerk of the City of Lynwood, and yy�� Whereas it appears that the said Special Election was duly called and held pursuant to said notice and in accordance with law on the ! day of ,___, 1924; that the polls for said election were kept open during the time quired by law and in accordance with the said'notice and that the said Spec al Eeection was held and conducted and votes thereof received and canvassed and the result thereof determined and declared in the time, form and manner required by law, and Whereas the said Board of Trustees did on the y day of 01 , 1924, being the time provided for, its regular meeting next after the ekpi- ration of three days from and after the date of said election, meet and can- vass the returns of the said Special Election, as required by law, whereupon the result of the said canvass having been found to be as hereinafter stated, and entered upon the Minutes, now therefore, The Board of Trustees of the City of Lynwood does ordain as follows, to -wit: Section 1: That the new territory proposed to be annexed to the Cit o.f Lynwood, as aforesaid, is particularly described as follows, to -wit: Beginning at the southwest corner of Mod jeska Park, as shown on map recorded "in Book 9, Pages 142 and 143 of Plops, Records of Lod Angeles County - being an angle point in the boundary line of the City of Lynwood as the same existed on November 14;.1923; thence easterly along the southerly boundary `line of said City of Lynwood; and continuing along the boundary line of` said,.. = City of Lynwood in all' its various courses to an angle point in the easterly lire of Block 15, of Belle- Vernon Acres, as on map recorded in Book:9, Page.196 of Naps,.Records of said County; thence northwesterly along the north- easterly line of said Belle- Vernon -Acres to the northerly corner of Lot 8;• Block 1, of said Belle- Vernon Acres, being a point on the westerly line of Modjeska Acres, as shown on'map recorded in Book 10,'Page 33 pf Maps, Records of said County; thence, northerly along the westerly line of said Nlodjeska Acres to'the,northwest corner 'of rLot 1 o said r+ 7odjeska:Acres;. thence northerly in a direct line to the point -'of- beginning: !t ; `Section 2: That there,was but one election .established and provided for the holding-of said Special Election, the boundaries of which, were,'.and..are,'the boundaries of the said territory. Section3: That the proposition voted on in said Special Election was "whether said described territory should be annexed to the City of Lynwood; and that the whole number of votes cast on said pro osition at said Special -' Election on _!wt� ° __, 1924,; was• =� � T__12 �a`votes; and that such election in fay r f • said proposition was 2e number of voteV cast at votes, and the number of votes cast against.the same was 12 ... And "whereas it appears.frorn the ,canvass of the returns of the said election.so held in said territory on said'proposition are in fa- vor of said annexation. And it is hereby ordered that a certified copy of this Ordinance, giving the date.of its passage, under the seal of the ,City of Lynwood,:be submitted to and filed with the Secretary of State of ,the State of California, From and after the date of which filing the annexations of such territory shall be deemed to be complete,'and thenceforth the said territory shall be to all intents and purposes a part of he City.o Lynwood.
