ORDINANCE IiO. 73
AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE CITY OF LYNWOOD, CALIFORNIA, LICENSING.
AND REGULATING VARIOUS BUSINESSES'IN THE
SAID CITY OF LYN OOD: PROVIDING A PENALTY
FOR VIOLATIONS THEREOF, AND REPEALING
ORDINANCES NO'S. 21, 23, 40 and 58.
The Board of Trustees of the City of Lynwood does ordain
as follows:
Section l.. It'shall be unlawful for any person to engage in,
any business in the City of Lynwood, without first obtaining a
license so to.do from the City of,Lynwood; unless such business
is exempt from license.
Section 2. A business shall be construed as meaning any
transaction in which money or any other consideration is used.
Section 3. It shall be necessary obtain a license even
though conducted in conjunction with another place of business
in the'City of Lynwood.
Section 4. It shall be the duty of the'City Clerk to prepare
all license blanks and deliver same to the City bIarshall who shall
act as license collector and'make' return to - the City Clerk at - least
once each week.
Section 5: It shall be the duty of every person licensed by
the City of Lynwood to exhibit same upon demand of any officer of
the said City of Lynwood.
Section 6. All honorable discharged soldiers, sailors and
marines of the United States are exempt from license under this
Ordinance when engaged in the business of peddling or soliciting,,
Section 7. Every person who agrees, or'undertakes to perform
any act, or service, for —hick 'c receives a stipulated sum as
compensation, shall be deemed to come within'the provisions of this
Ordinance.
Section 8. The word person whenever used in -this Ordinance
shall be deemed to mean any person, firm, association or, corporation
doing any business in the City of.Lynwood.
Section 9. Every person engaged in any business in the City
of Lynwood, unless otherwise mentioned in this Ordinance, or exempt
therefrom, shall pay a license fee of Twelve (12) Dollars annually,
payable semi- annually in advance.
Section 10. Every person engaged in the business,'whether
wholly or in part in the City of Lynwood, of a, plumbing contractor
or the business of contracting for the installation of electrical
wiring in said'City of Lynwood, shall pay a license fee of $48.00
annually, payable quarterly in advance.

work °in connection with the construction of any building or
structure, in 'the City`of Lynwood, whether wholly or in ".part in said.

licensed owner employs other persons to do such plumbing or
electrical work, the person so employed shall be licensed :so to

apply to persons working under the direct supervision of a li -
censed contractor or a licensed owner who is licensed by the City

Section 112, All persons, firms'or'Corporation,�making
application for a plumbing .or, electric license, shall have a Bond.

executed- to. theCity of Lynwood, with two or more sufficient
sureties' or by a 'surety company authorized so to do, or.by a
corporation or a association having authority to act in'such,..
capacity. In form said Bond'-mast be joint and. several and in -the
sum df One Thousand (.1,000,00) Dollars and said 'Bond must be
conditioned that the whole or any part of said One,Thousana� '
($61,000,00) Dollars shall be paid” to any•person. who has suffered •'
damage by reason of the violation of any of the provisions of
the plumbing or Electric Ordinance or. any amendment thereto.,
Section 12, Every person engaged in the business.of con -
ducting a circus,.or other public exhibition,,shall pay "a license
_- fee �bf'Five (5.) Dollars, per :day for every 500 seats, s:eating".
capacity, or less.
Section 13, Every, person who conducts an amusement.of what-
soever nature, not otherwise mentioned in this Ordinance, shall
pay a license fee of Two (2) Dollars per day,"
Section "14. Every person:engaged in the business of
auctioneer, shall pay a.- license fee of Five (5)-Dollars per day;
Section 15,; Every person engaged in the business of dis
tributing advertising in the City of "Lynwood, shall pay a"license
-fee of One (1) Dollar. per day.
Section 16, All churches,•and.charitable.and benevolent
institutions are exempt from license in the City of Lynwood,
.Section '162. All license fees shall be due and payable
to the City Marshall on or before the first day of the quarterly
or semi - annuall period following expiration of license and such
license fee shall be declared delinquent fifteen days after said
license fee becomes due, at which time a penalty of ten per cent
of said fee shall be added and further that,after.a period of,
thirty days from date of expiration of license, such person shall
be liable to the penalty given in Section 17 of this Ordinance.
.Section 17. Any person, violating any of the provisions,
of this Ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and
upon conviction thereof, shall be punishable by A fine of not
more than Fifty (50) Dollars, or by imprisonment in the County
or City jail for a period of not more than Fifty (50) days, or
by both such fine and imprisonment.
Section 18, Every person shall be deemed guilty of a
separate offense for every day in which a violation of this
Ordinance is committed.
Section 19. Ordinances No's 21 23, 40 and 58, and all other
Ordinances or portions of Ordinances of the City of Lynwood in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
Section 20, The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of
this Ordinance and cause the same to be published once in the
Lynwood Tribune.

certify that the foregoing Ordinance, being Ordinance No. 73 of
the City of Lynwood, was introduced and read three times and finally
passed at a regular meeting of said Board, held on the 13th day of
October, 1926.
