AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF LYNWOOD, CALIFORNIA, REGULATING THE BURNING
OF RUBBISH, PAPER, SHAVINGS, BOXES, B RASS OR
WEEDS OR OTHER COMBUSTIBLE MATERIAL WITHIN THE'
CITY OF LYNV700D AND REPEALING ORDINANCE NO.142.

The City Council of the City of Ly=rood, California, do
ordain as follows:
- - -- SECTION -1: It shall be unlawful for any person_ to_ ignite,
set fire to, or burn any rubbish, paper, shavings, boxes, grass
or weeds or other combustible material in or upon any property,
street, sidewalk, alley or other public place in the City of Lyn-
wood.
SECTION 2: It shall be unlawful for ary person to ignite,
set fire to or burn any rubbish, shavings, boxes, grass or weeds
or other combustible material in or upon any lot or premises in the
City of Lynwood, except between the hour of 6:00 A. M. and 11:00
A. TVI., provided, however, that grass or weeds growing upon any lot
u � or premises in the City of_Lypmod may be burned off of said lot
or premises between the hour of 3:00 P. M. and 7:00 P. H. of any
day in the event that a written permit so to do shall first have
been obtained from the Chief of the Fire Department of the City of
Lynwood, which permit shall be granted by said Chief of the Fire
Department only under such circumstances which shall within his
discresion not endanger the public safety.
SECTION 3: That Ordinance No. 142 of said City Council,
relating to the burning of rubbish and other combustible material.
within the City of Lynwood, be and the same' is hereby repealed.
SECTION 4: Any violation, of this ordinance shall be deemed
a misdemeanor, and shall be punishable by a fine of not exceeding
$300.00, or by imprisonment in the County Jail of Los Angeles
County, or in the City Jail of the City of Lynwood, for a term of
not exceeding ninety days, or by both such fine and imprisonment,
A Judgment imposing a fine may provide for its collection by im-
prisonment in either of said Jails in the proportion of one day s
imprisonment for each dollar of the fine,until the fine be wholly
satisfied.

SECTION 5: WHEREAS, there is extreme fire hazards in
the summer months in the City of Lynwood and the danger of fire
is a matter of public health, safety and welfare,
NOW, THEREFORE, This Ordinance is required for the
preservation of the public health, safety and. welfare and this
Ordinance is to take effect immediately upon its - passage. --
SECTION 6: That the City Clerk shall certify to the
passage of this Ordinance and shall cause the same to be published
once after its final passage and approval, in the Lynwood Tribune,
a weekly newspaper printed, published and circulated in said City.

of Lynwood, California, do hereby certify that the above and fore-
going Ordinance was duly adopted by the City Council of said-City
at an adjourned regular meeting thereof held in the City Hall of
said City on the 12th day of August, 1930, and passed by the fol-
lowing vote:
