ORDINANCE NO. 1
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LYN; REQUIRING THE
FILING OF MAPS BY CERTAIN PUBLIC UTILITIES

The City Council of the City of Lynwood do ordain as
follows:
SECTION 1 - Every person, firm or corporation owning,
using, controlling or having an interest in any pipe, conduit,
duct or tunnel under the surface of any public street, alley,
sidewalk, or other place for supplying or conveying gas, electric -
ity, water, steam, ammonia, oil or any other matter or substance
in, to or from the City of Lynwood, for any purpose whatsoever,
shall file in the- office of the City Engineer of said City on
-or- bef ore" September _1, 1931., -a map , or - set,of maps.; each- drawn_tp__-
a scale of not more than two hundred feet to an inch, showing
the location,.dimensions, character and depth of all such
structures at the date of the filing of said map, including
pipes, conduits, ducts, mains, manholes, handholes, chambers
and other appliances installed beneath the surface of any such
public streets, alleys, sidewalks or other public places, but not
including services or service pipes.
This section shall apply to all structures
whether the same have been abandoned or not.
SECTION 2- Every person, firm or corporation mentioned
in Section 1 hereof shall file in the office of said City .
Engineer within sixty days after the complete installation of anv
such structure, except services or service pipes, a corrected
map or set of maps each dra-m to said scale, showing the complete
installation of all such pipes and other appliances.

SECTION 3- Whenever any such appliances, except
services or service pipes, located beneath the surface of any
public street, alley or other public place, or the use thereof,
is abandoned, the person, firm or corporation, owning, using,
controlling or having an interest therein shall, within sixty
days after such abandonment,.file in the office of said City
Engineer a map giving in detail the location of such structure
so abandoned or .removed.
SECTION 4- This Ordinance shall not apply to
struc.u.res, above the surface of the ground.
SECTION 5- It shall be unlawful for-any person,
firm or corporation, to fail, refuse or neglect to file a map
or maps at the time.and in.'all respects as required by this
Ordinance.
SECTION 6- Any person, firm or corporation, violat-
ing any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be deemed
guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be
punishable by-a fine of not less than TEN DOLLARS ($10.00), nor
more than THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($300.00), or by imprisonment
in the City or County jail for a period not to exceed five
days or by both such fineand imprisonment.
Each such person, firm or corporation
shall be guilty of a separate offense for each.d.ay during any
portion of which any violation of any provision of this Ordinance
is committed, continued or permitted by such person, firm, or
corporation and shall be punishable therefor as provided in this
Ordinance.
SECTION 7- The City Clerk shall certify to the

adoption of this Ordinance and cause the same to be published
once in the LYNWOOD TRIBUNE, a weekly newspaper, published and
circulated in said City of Lynwood.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of said City of
Lynwood this 7th day of.!Aprllj, 1931.
