Re: Monthly Department Report — March 2020
City of McCa11
1. Weather:
March weather was more normal. Melting, snow and rain.
2. Staff:
At the end of March, no staff were working. The Assistant Superintendent and Mechanic were
both on vacation the middle of the month when the virus hit. They came back early, self -
quarantined and now are staying at home. The two seasonal employees that were working
were laid off. I was given the opportunity to work from my home in Parma, so I am working
remotely from there currently.
3. Greens:
The greens went through March in good shape. We had 30 inches of snow on them by the
end of the month. This is about 15 inches at the end of last month. The grass is still dormant
under the snow and the ground is now thawed out under the snow.
4. Club House:
May Security added two additional cameras to the building, and were tested when an
individual entered through a door that wasn't completely closed and set off the alarm.
Staff had the capability to go back and find out who it was. The person had come in, set off
the alarm, and then vacated the building. Staff discovered that, in time, add two additional
cameras to cover blind spots. The Club House is now closed until further notice.
5. Maintenance Building:
The end of the Month, all buildings were closed with minimal heat. Parks crew is checking
on them.
6. Equipment Maintenance:
Calvin Clark, Mechanic, ground all the old greens and tee reels the first two weeks of the
month. He still needs to grind all the new mowers reels whenever we can get back to work. The

two seasonal staff that had been doing snow removal, were stripping and preparing the ball
washer for powder coating.
7. Restaurant:
The restaurant shut down and cleaned the buildings. They are closed until further notice.
8. Asset Management/Master Plan:
The Golf Course Architect is being sent information to keep the plan moving forward.
9. Dog Walkers:
Paths were closed the end of the month until further notice.
10. Golf Shows
We were supposed to attend the Seattle Golf Show the first weekend in March but did not
have a good feeling about heading into an area where the virus was already very active,
so we canceled. The show turned into a 1 day shortened event, so we are glad that we did not
attend.
