1. Topic: Finance Staff:
Finance staff is working remotely where possible to limit staff time in City Hall. Staff that normally
work in a shared workspace are coordinating and flexing hours to practice social distancing by not
having two people in the office at the same time.
2. Topic: COVID-19 Utility Relief Update:
Since the Council approved COVID-19 Relief for Utility Bills on April 9, staff has taken the following
actions:
• Did not bill late penalty fees. Penalty fees are billed after the 10d' of the month. Penalty fees billed
average approximately $550 per month.
• Did not place door hanger notices at service location or mail delinquent account notices of pending
shutoff for non-payment to 24 utility customers.
• Staff received approximately 6 inquiries regarding relief; 3-4 calls prior to the discussion on April
9 and two after the April 9 discussion. Staff encourages each caller to pay what they can to keep
their account balance from becoming too overwhelming.
o One from a commercial property owner that leases space to multiple businesses, and the
remainder from 2nd homeowners and short-term rental owners.
o To date, no customer has entered into a formal payment arrangement due the impacts of
COVID-19 and efforts to `flatten the curve'.
