Re: Monthly Department Report — June 2020
1. General:
The Department is busy with lots of building and land use inquiries.
2. Housing:
The Housing Advisory Committee appointments will occur at the July 9 Council meeting. Working on
a deed restriction template with White Peterson.
3. Long-range Planning:
Presented scope of work for Valley County Lake Management Plan to City and County.
4. Code Update:
The next topic area of focus will be the Public Works codes. Staff met with Diane Kushlan to go over
next round of updates and plan for the work sessions.
5. Greenhouse Gas Inventory:
Summer intern Anna Lindquist completed her 6-week internship. Presentation of the final report will
be at the July 9 Council meeting.
6. Local food systems:
Summer intern Casey O'Leary completed her 6-week internship looking at community gardens, local
farmers markets and other related local food system topics. Presentation of the final report will be at the
July 9 Council meeting.
7. Urban Renewal:
The McCall Redevelopment Agency (MRA) meeting was held on June 16. There is one vacancy
on the Board. The Board decided to have final design and engineering completed for the bank
stabilization of the waterfront north of Mile High Marina to Brown Park. Construction would be
managed by the City of McCall and MRA and the City will enter into an agreement for
reimbursement. Next agency meeting is July 23.

8. GIS:
Lots of dig line requests and other field work as the construction season is in full effect. Working with
the Parks Dept on the Noxious weeds program, creating applications for the staff to communicate with
the public as to areas that they have sprayed and will be spraying as well as check out online forms for
tracking Pull Together chemical checkout. Also, staff is working on finalizing the Arborist tree survey
application as well as working with CED interns to show them GIS benefits on their projects and giving
them a GIS 101 so they would be familiar with it in the future.
9. Building:
Budget goal has been met for this fiscal year. See reports for latest permit fee numbers.
10. Planning:
The July Planning & Zoning Commission (PZC) meeting has three Design Reviews, 1 Subdivision and
PUD application. A Commission seat to represent the City Limits is open for applications.
11. Grants:
Grant report is attached.
12. Public Art:
Erica and Jamie Laidlaw, the artist team for the 2nd Street public art project, launched a public outreach
effort in June which includes website, online surveys, info kiosks in public places and "I love McCall
Because...." Selfie/sticker campaign.
A Call to Artists has been issued to invite applications from Idaho artists interested in the McCall Urban
Renewal District public art project. Deadline for applications was June 16.
13. Historic Preservation:
The Historic Preservation Commission met (remotely) in May for the first time since February. The
committee is proceeding with promotion of its McCall Historic Tour app and development of a second
history of McCall video.
14. Regional Creative District:
Staff continues to meet with the Idaho Commission on the Arts to develop a process for establishing the
West Central Mountains as Idaho's first state -recognized Creative District. The process will include
assessment of the extent of creative industry entrepreneurs, businesses and practitioners that exist in the
West Central Mountains and development of tools aimed to grow and support this industry on a regional
level.
15. Business Assistance:
Staff continues to participate in the West Central Mountains Business Response Task Force, a group of
about 20 stakeholders working regionally to address business needs in this unusual economic climate
and assist with business re -opening strategy.
