AN ORDINANCE GRANTING TO THE PACIFIC ELECTRIC
RAILWAY COMPANY, A CORPORATION, ITS SUCCESSORS,
AND ASSIGNS, A FRANCHISE TO CONSTRUCT, MAIN-
TAIN AND OPERATE A SPUR TRACK UPON AND ACROSS
FERNWOOD AND BEECH96'OOD AVENUES IN THE CITY OF
LYNWOOD.
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Lynwood
as follows:
Section 1, That a franchise be and the same is hereby
granted to the Pacific Electric Railway Company, a corporation,
its successors and assigns, for a term of fifty years, to construct,
maintain and operate a spur track upon and across Fernwood Avenue
and along, upon and across Beechwood Avenue in the City of Lynwood,
the center line of which is described as follows:
Beginning at the point of intersection of the southerly
line of the northerly roadway of Fernwood Avenue (40
feet wide) with the center line of Beechwood Avenue (50
feet wide); thence easterly, along said center line,
300.76 feet to the beginning of a tangent curve, concave
to the North and having a radius of 23 feet, thence
easterly along the are of said curve, b8.36 feet to end
of curve; thence, easterly along a tangent line, 5
feet to a point in the northerly line of said Beechwood
Avenue, located westerly thereon 606,82 feet from the
westerly line of the westerly roadway of State Street
(52.5 feet wide).
Reference is hereby made to the application therefor
and map accompanying the same on file in the office of the City
Clerk in the City of Lynwood for further particulars.
Section 2. That the said track to be constructed and
operated under this franchise shall be used for the transportation
of freight only and not as a main line or a part thereof, and
shall be use for the receipt and delivery of freight and for the
purpose of connecting warehouses, manufactories, and other
business establishments upon and along said spur track with the
main line of the Pacific Electric Railway Company, a corporation,
on Fernwood Avenue.
Section 3. That the City of Lynwood, in making the
grant of this franchise, expressly reserves the right to pave,

macadamize, remove or sewer said street, or lay gas and water or
other pipes therein, such work to be done so as to injure the
railroad as little as possible.
Section 4- That the cars upon said railroad tracks
shall not be allowed to stand upon the street intersection in such
manner so as to unnecessarily obstruct the use of said street by
vehicles or pedestrians.
Section 5. That said spur track shall be operated and
maintained subject to such regulations and conditions as may be
prescribed from time to time by the Council of the City of Lynwood.
Section 6. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage
of this ordinance and shall cause the same to be published once
in the Lynwood Press a newspaper published
in the City of Lynwood.
Section 7. The granting of this franchise is effective
upon the further condition that the grantee within five days after
said franchise is awarded to it, file with the said City Council
a corporate surety bond running to said city in the penal sum of
X1,000 conditioned that said grantee shall well and truly observe,
fulfill and perform each and every term and condition of said
franchise, and in case of any breach of conditions, said bond,
the whole amount of the principal sum therein named shall be taken
and deemed to be liquidated damages and shall be recoverable from
the principal and surety upon said bond.
