AN ORDINANCE GRANTING TO THE SOUTHERN PACIFIC
RAILROAD COMPANY, A CORPORATION, AND SOUTHERN
PACIFIC COMPANY, A CORPORATION, ITS LESSEE,
THEIR SUCCESSORS AND ASSIGNS, A FRANCHISE TO
CONSTRUCT, MAINTAIN AND OPERATE A SPUR TRACK
UPON AND ACROSS ALAMEDA STREET IN THE CITY OF
LYNWOOD.
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of
Lynwood as follows:
Section to That a franchise be and the same is hereby
granted to the Southern Pacific Railroad Company, a corporation,
and the Southern Pacific Company, a corporation, its lessee, their
successors and assigns, for a term of fifty years, to construct,
maintain and operate a spur track upon and across Alameda Street
in the City of Lynwood, the center line of which is described as
follows:
Beginning at a point in the westerly line of Alameda
Street (Easterly Roadway), 40 feet wide, which is also
the most easterly right of way line of the Southern
Pacific Railroad Company +s San Pedro Branch, said point
being located southerly 750 feet, more or less, measured
along aforesaid line, from its intersection with the
southerly line of Imperial Highway, 130 feet wide;
thence northeasterly along a line forming an angle of
19 degrees, more or less, with said westerly line, a
distance of 90 feet, more or less, to a point; thence
continuing northeasterly along a curve, concave to the
left, having a radius of 477.6$ feet a distance of 4 0
feet, more or less, to a point in the easterly line of
said Alameda Street, said point being located southerly
625 feet, more or less, measured along said easterly
line from its intersection with the aforesaid southerly
line of Imperial highway.
Reference is hereby made to the application therefor
and map accompanying the same on file in the office of the City
Clerk in the City of Lynwood for further particulars,
Section 2. That the said track to be constructed and
operated under this franchise shall be used for the transportation
of freight only and not as a main line or a part thereof, and
shall be used for the receipt and delivery of freight and for

the purpose of connecting warehouses, manufactories, and other
business industries and enterprises upon and along said spur track
with the main line of the Southern Pacific Railroad Company, a
corporation, and the Southern Pacific Company, a corporation, its
lessee, their successors and assigns.
Section 3. That the City of Lynwood, in making the
grant of this franchise, expressly reserves the right to pave,
macadamize, remove or sewer said street, or lay gas and water or
other pipes therein, such work to be done so as to injure the
railroad as little as possible.
Section 4. That the cars upon said railroad tracks
shall not be allowed to stand upon the street intersection in such
manner so as to unnecessarily obstruct the use of said street by
vehicles or pedestrians.
Section 5. That said spur track shall be operated
and maintained subject to such regulations and conditions as may
be prescribed from time to time by the Council of the City of
Lynwood.
Section 6. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage
