RESOLUTION NO. 82 -34
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
AUTHORIZING AN APPROPRIATION OF $40,836.50 FOR THE PURCHASE
OF TWO DIAL -A -RIDE VANS FROM THE TRANSPORTATION 4.5 FUND ($38,944)
AND $1,892.50 FROM THE GARAGE FUND
WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood has been awarded a grant from the
Caltrans Secretary's Discretionary Fund in the amount of $38,944 for.the
acquisition of two (2) Dial -A -Ride Vans to provide transportation for senior
citizens within the City; and
WHEREAS, specifications were formulated in accordance with guide-
lines provided by Caltrans, wherein they were subsequently addressed, reviewed
and approved; and
` - -- WHEREAS, — City' Council has 'signed agreement- with Caltrans to
disburse the funds in accordance with the Dial -A -Ride 4.5 guidelines; and
WHEREAS, with City Council's approval, a Request for Bids was
advertised and notices mailed to appropriate companies, with two respondents
being Creatira Transportation Systems, Inc. in the amount of $50,008 and
Superior Trans -Med in the amount of $40,836.50; and
WHEREAS, both bid amounts were above the Grant award; and
WHEREAS, on August 18, 1981, City Council approved the lowest bid
of Superior Trans -Med in the amount of $40,836.50, $1,892.50 over the Grant
award; and
WHEREAS, City Council instructed the City Manager to appropriate
funds to cover the shortfall of Grant funds from the Garage Fund;
