Subject: Subject: Notification of Hazardous Household Waste and Electronic Items
Drop -Off Event - January 14, 2024
The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to apprise you of the imminent Hazardous
Household Waste and Electronic Items Drop -Off Event scheduled for January 14, 2024.
The event will take place between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm at Truist Bank, 9600 Collins Ave.,
Bal Harbour, FL 33154.
This event serves as an opportunity for residents to responsibly dispose of hazardous
waste, batteries, and electronics that are not suitable for regular garbage or recycling
receptacles. Numerous household products, including oil -based paint, solvents,
pesticides, and pool chemicals, possess hazardous characteristics akin to industrial
chemicals.
Residents are encouraged to utilize the semiannual Bal Harbour Village Hazardous Waste
Collection event or appropriate Miami Dade -County disposal facilities for the proper
disposal of hazardous items.
The Public Works and Beautification department will be facilitating the acceptance of
household hazardous waste and electronics on Sunday, January 14, 2024, from 10:00 am
to 3:00 pm.
Please note that while the accepted hazardous items are not inherently dangerous to
handle, their inappropriate disposal in landfill sites can have detrimental effects on the
environment. Electronics dropped off during the event will undergo recycling by a
specialized electronics recycling and resale expert.
Residents can anticipate receiving additional notifications through the Village electronic
notification systems to further disseminate crucial information about the event.
If you have, any questions please feel free to contact John Oldenburg directly.
