AMENDING CODE OF THE BOROUGH OF CARTERET, CHAPTER 68
ENTITLED "ALA~ SYSTEMS"
BE IT ORDAINED that Chapter 68 of the Code of the Borough of Carteret shall be
amended as follows:
Section 68-3 shall be amended as follows:
It shall be the duty of the owner or his agent to respond to any alarm activation by his
system and to secure the alarm and property The owner or his agent must, within ten
(10) days of receiving a certificate of occupancy, notify the Police Department of said
ownership, and supply said department with the name, address and emergency phone
number of the person whose responsibility it is to respond to alarms and secure the
property.
The owner or his agent shall, within seven (7) days, notify the Police Department of
any change of infbrmation for the person charged with the aforementioned
responsibility.
Section 68-5 Maintenance of Alarm Systems
A. It shall be the duty and responsibility of the owner or his agent to maintain, repair,
improve and/or modify the alarm system in his building to prevent false alarms.
B If two false alarms are received from the same building in the same calendar year,
it shall be deemed that the system is in disrepair and the owner is in violation of this
chapter.
Section 68-5 shall become 68-6.
Section 68-7 - Duties of Owners of Leased Property
It shall be the responsibility of the owners or his agents to ensure that persons
occupying his property to comply with this section, and it shall not be deemed to be
a valid defense were assumed or give to persons occupying said property.

Section 68-6 shall become 68-8
Any person who violated any provisions of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof,
be subject to the penalties set forth in Section 1-17 of the Code. It shall be the
responsibility of the Police and/or Fire Department to enforce the provisions of this
chapter
