Co-ordination meetings with Long Pin group.
Finished Reference, working through other collections, now finishing 600’s and fiction to “C”.
Same as above
Have received an anonymous donation for the purchase price of an automation system. System will be here within the week of May 6-10.
Have over 1000 patrons on file in the new database. Still finding quite a few who are not paying county assessment.
The new computer has arrived, and we are beginning the task of inputting all the patrons, volunteer help has entered 890 to date.
With the Hewlett-Packard Grant and the donation, we now have the hardware and software to begin to build the library database. We will pull records free from the Library of Congress
database to load our database, and this project will begin next week. We expect this project to take about a year.
Long Pin meetings continue. We are now in the process of creating a working group to do the planning for creating a consortium, and are applying for a state grant to fund our travel
and legal fees. This grant application will go in on May 10.

Wishing Tree
We continue to encourage all patrons to use the LiLI database here and at home, and have had quite a bit of success with people doing research, especially for personal use and for school
reports.
The book club had 5 in attendance this month, and we discussed “The Battle for God” by Karen Armstrong.
We have a young man working Community Service hours, working on reading and cleaning the shelves.
Again, Heartland High School has been using the library for creating reports and preparing presentations and debates. Extremely well-behaved and on task.
We have had a young lady volunteer 10 hours a week to the library this month. She has been a great help with creating the patron database. A second volunteer, who started on the 29th
is also learning how to input for the patron database.
The Friends of the Library wishing tree has been blocked from the public by the braces, and has not had much action. Purchased one book.

New Staff
Staff have been participating in small mini-workshops to increase their use of and teaching of the programs being offered to the public.
We have added 4 new staff this month. Our Children’s Librarian position will be shared by two local ladies, Pat Zanzic and Sue Rost. They are very efficient and enthusiastic, and have
made a difference already in the quality of the children’s program. They will be sharing the hours for this position.
Brandi Condit will start as our new Clerk I on May 2.
The third position, that of Library page, will be filled during the second week of May.
